Santa Clara, Calif.- Amy Lamb of the Santa Clara women's water polo team was named the WWPA Player of the Week today for her play this past weekend. Lamb helped lead the Broncos to a 4-0 record at Slugfest, scoring 10 goals along the way and recording seven assists, two steals, and a kickout drawn.

After scoring just eight goals in nine games this year, Lamb exploded offensively with the ten goals in four games to tie for the team lead in goals with 18. Already leading the team in assists, Lamb added to that total this weekend and now has 22.

Last Week
Santa Clara took the trip to Santa Cruz last week for the annual Slugfest tournament and swept the tournament, going 4-0 on the weekend. Notes

Capurro Among Best in Nation
After playing in just 11.5 total games this year, surrendering fourth quarter play to Wren White many times, Santa Clara goalie Randahl Capurro leads the nation in blocks per game with 12.7. Her 146 total blocks place her second in the nation, behind Caylinn Wallace of Arizona State who has played in 19 games so far.

Defensive Specialists
The Broncos are among the best in the nation in defense, third to be exact, allowing teams to score just 6.0 goals per game against them. Meanwhile, Santa Clara is 18th in the nation in offense, averaging 8.8 goals scored per game.

Lamb Sisters Offensive Explosion
This weekend, Amy and Allie Lamb went on a scoring streak. The sisters averaged four goals a game between them during the tournament, scoring 16 in the four games. Amy more than doubled her goal output from earlier in the season and Allie had six goals after scoring just one in the first nine games.

Still Receiving Votes
Santa Clara remains just on the outside of the top-20 poll, but is still receiving votes. A good showing at the upcoming LMU Invitational could bump them into the rankings fairly easily.
