SANTA CLARA, Calif. - This weekend Santa Clara women's water polo (14-7) will head to UC Davis for the 2008 Aggies Shootout for games against four WWPA opponents. The Broncos defeated SCU San Bernardino 5-4 in their only meeting this year, but lost two one-goal games against Cal State Bakersfield 8-7 and 7-6. Santa Clara defeated Colorado State 10-3 the one time they played them this season stunned LMU in a three-overtime, sudden death victory at the Lion's own invitational.

This past weekend the Broncos went 2-1 at the Indiana Fluid Five. In the first game of the tournament, Santa Clara was edged 6-5 by No. 12 Michigan before rebounding to win their next two games 12-6 against Wagner and 6-4 over No. 17 Indiana.

Notes

Climbing Up the Rankings
After this weekend's showing at the Indiana Fluid Five, Santa Clara has shot up the national rankings, moving to No. 16, their highest of the year. The 25 votes also easily accounts for the most this season.

Defensive Assignments
Santa Clara continues to sit on top of the WWPA in defense, and they will need it come this weekend as they face three of the top six scoring teams in the conference.

Home Away From Home
This season, the Broncos are 4-1 in games played in the opposing team's pool, easily the best in the PCSC. Coupled with their 3-0 record at home, Santa Clara has proven to be a formidable opponent anywhere they play.

Kickout Queens
Christie Miller, Claire Linney, and Meg Zimmerman have 67 kickouts drawn between them this year which is more than double the rest of the team combined. These girls know how to get in and mix it up in the pool.
