Continuing its fine work in the classroom, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) has announced the Santa Clara women's water polo team has the seventh-best grade point average (GPA) nationally at 3.20, with 11 Bronco women making the Academic All-American team. The women's team jumped up four places as they were 11th in 2007. Santa Clara had one named to the Academic All-American Outstanding list (3.71 - 4.00 GPA), seven named to the Superior list (3.41 - 3.70 GPA) and three named to the Excellent list (3.2 - 3.40 GPA).
"I congratulate the 11 players from our women's water polo team named as ACWPC Academic All-Americans. Even more exciting is our team has the seventh-highest team GPA nationally. They worked hard this year and it's exciting for them to see the results nationally," said Santa Clara head water polo coach Keith Wilbur. "These players are true student-athletes, and they have shown they can perform at a high level in their sport while staying committed to their studies. I think it says a lot about the type of students that come to Santa Clara: their ability to organize their time efficiently and their work ethic in and out of the classroom."
