PULLMAN, Wash. - Gio Gandionco shot an opening round 1-under par 70, and teammate Evan McLeod began the day with an even 71 at WSU's Itani Quality Homes Men's Golf Collegiate on Monday.
Both Gondianco and McLeod were able to go even lower in the afternoon with rounds of 3-under and 4-under. Playing individually, freshman Michiel Eyre III also impressed, finishing 3-under on the day.
Playing on their on-campus home course, the host Washington State Cougars distanced themselves from the nine-team field by posting a two-round total of 29-under par heading into Tuesday's final round.
