PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Santa Clara rebounded from a disappointing second round, moving up the leaderboard during final round play Wednesday to defeat four West Coast Conference schools at the St. Mary's Invitational. The event marked the beginning of the 2015-16 season. 

In a tournament that ran from Monday through Wednesday and featured 15 teams - eight from the WCC - the Broncos were in position to challenge for the tournament title after Round 1. Junior Tyler Kertson posted a 2-under 69 Monday and a 1-under 70 on Wednesday to pace the Broncos with a top-15 finish.

However, it was Round 2 that took SCU out of contention. Kertson was +6 Tuesday, and as a team SCU was +24. That's a stark contrast to Santa Clara's total team scores of +6 and +5 in rounds one and three.    

SCU finished 9th, out-playing four other WCC schools: Gonzaga (12th), Pacific (13th), BYU (14th) and LMU (15th).
