Shieh Qualifies for NCAA Championships for Second Straight Year

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the second year in a row, Hayden Shieh of Santa Clara men's golf has been selected as an individual for the NCAA men's golf championships.

Shieh will be the No. 1 seed in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Championship Course at the University of New Mexico. He is one of just 45 individuals to compete and one of six to be a top seed.

He joins three other golfers from the West Coast Conference. The other three WCC golfers are Sean Walsh of Gonzaga, Alex Chiarella of San Diego, and Patrick Fishburn of BYU. Shieh and Fishburn will both be playing on the same course with the Cougar the No. 2 seed.

Shieh, last season's WCC Freshman of the Year, finished third at the WCC championship with a 7-under 209. He led the Broncos in seven tournaments with a win at the Cal Del Sol Intercollegiate. He also had four top-10 finishes to push his career total to 11.

This season he was named All-WCC First Team and All-WCC Academic.
