Women's Basketball Opens Three-Game Homestand Saturday Against LMU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Returning to Leavey to start a three-game homestand, Santa Clara women's basketball hosts LMU Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Broncos took down Portland 56-44 on the road on Thursday. Ten different Broncos scored at least one point and all 13 active players appeared in the game.

Santa Clara is 46-23 all-time vs. LMU and 11-9 in Leavey. The first meeting between the two teams came during the 1984-85 season. Last season the broncos took both meetings.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-7, 2-1 WCC) is scoring 64.5 points per game while shooting 39.9 percent from the floor and 31.9 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos have a plus-2.7 rebound differential and are forcing 16.2 turnovers per contest.

Emily Wolph leads the team in scoring (12.9 ppg), assists (4.4 pg), and free throw percentage (83.3). She leads the WCC in 3-pointers made with 36.

Lori Parkinson's 7.7 rpg leads Santa Clara and she also leads with 1.8 steals per game. Parkinson is also third on the team with 11.4 ppg. Morgan McGwire is second in scoring (11.9) and rebounding (7.3 pg) while leading with 1.2 blocks per game. Marie Bertholdt is scoring 10.4 ppg to go with 6.1 rpg.

THE LIONS
LMU (6-8, 1-2 WCC) snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over Pepperdine on Thursday. The Lions are being outscored 68.6-64.6 and outrebounded 40.8-38.5. They shoot 38.6 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Jackie Johnson leads LMU and is third in the WCC with 15.9 ppg. Her 9.4 rpg and 2.4 bpg also rank her first in the conference while her 2.1 spg put her fourth.

Andee Velasco is second in the league with 5.4 apg and is scoring 6.0 ppg. Leslie Lopez-Wood's 30 3-pointers are tops on the team and she is third in scoring with 11.9 ppg. Cheyanne Wallace is second with 13.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
