RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Santa Clara University senior Ronnald Monaco (pictured) was at four-over 76 during Tuesday's final-round play of the 2012 USD Invitational at The Farms Golf Club just outside San Diego. Monaco helped SCU move up two spots as a team to finish 12th overall.
Monaco was Santa Clara's top finisher at 28th individually after rounds of 81, 71 and 76 spanning the 54-hole event. Teammate Bobby Monaco was tied for 53rd and Scott Lowe came in 55th.
No. 15 San Diego State took home the team title, by going 2-under par as a group. Santa Clara's WCC rival St. Mary's was impressive at 10-over collectively to finish alone in second. The Aztecs and the Gaels had six of the top seven individual finishers, including tournament champion, SDSU's J.J. Span who shot a final-round 68.
