SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Scott Lowe continued his strong play Monday morning, firing an opening-round 67 at the par 70, 7,133-yard layout at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale. Lowe was among the top 30 players in a deep 24-team, 122-player field following Rounds One and Two.

Lowe is looking for back-to-back impressive finishes, following a career-best 13th-place performance last week in Santa Barbara. Senior teammate Ronnald Monaco also came in under par through the first 18 holes, with an opening round 69. Both Lowe and Monaco were just over par in the afternoon round and slipped a few spots to No. 29 and No. 70 respectively.

As a team, Santa Clara entered Round Two just five shots outside of eighth place and at 2-over par, was tied with Boise State for 16th. However, the Broncos finished Monday's 36 holes at 23-over and rest in 22nd. West Coast Conference rival San Diego is tied with Kansas State atop the team standings with a score of 15-under.
