SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With just one game remaining in the regular season, No. 15 Santa Clara women's soccer travels to Spokane to play Gonzaga Saturday at 1 p.m. Last week the Broncos tied Saint Mary's 0-0 and topped Pacific 3-1.

While the West Coast Conference title is out of reach, the final game of the regular season remains and important one for NCAA tournament seeding. The Broncos are currently No. 20 in the RPI, which is second in the conference to BYU who is No. 19.

"We're still battling for where we finish in conference and even though first place is out of reach we can finish anywhere from second to fourth so we want to put our best foot forward," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "We're one of the few teams that knows we're going to the NCAA tournament so we're still trying to iron out a few things so we'll be playing well enough to advance in the tournament. That's very motivating for us. Anytime the players get out on the field they want to represent the university and we'll have some great alums at the game so they'll want to play well for them."

Julie Vass leads Santa Clara (12-5-2, 5-1-2 WCC) with six goals and 13 points. Grace Cutler has found the back of the net five times while Dani Weatherholt, Mariana Galvan, and Janae Gonzalez have each scored three goals. Three other Broncos have at least one goal each. Megan Crosson is second in the West Coast Conference with six assists. Nine other Santa Clara players have at least one assist.

Andi Tostanoski has allowed just 10 goals and has the 14th best GAA in the nation at 0.52. She has made 80 saves for a .889 save percentage that is No. 9 in the country and has collected nine shutouts.

"Road games are always tough, especially when you play on someone else's senior day," said Smith. "Sometimes when you're playing a team that knows it's its final match of the year there is some extra motivation for them to finish on the highest note possible. It's also going to be different weather than we're used to. The temperature will be in the 40s and it could be rainy or windy. Those conditions are what you find in the NCAA tournament so this game could help us should we find ourselves in a similar spot in the tournament."

Santa Clara is 19-1-2 all-time vs. Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last year the Broncos took down the Zags 3-0 at home on Halloween.

Gonzaga (2-11-5, 1-6-1) is 2-5-3 at home on the year and is winless in its last six games with five losses and a tie. Last week the Bulldogs lost 1-0 at Portland.

Karley Baggerly leads the team with seven goals, two assists, and 16 points. Aliyah Miller and Jodi Ulkekul have each scored twice and four other Zags have scored a goal apiece. Five Gonzaga players have one assist each as well.

Christie Tombari has allowed 33 goals for a 1.75 GAA. She has made 95 saves and has a .742 save percentage.
