Nine Women's Soccer Players Honored by WCC for Work in the Classroom

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the final game of the regular season on the horizon, Santa Clara women's soccer had nine players recognized by the West Coast Conference for their work in the classroom. Andi Tostanoski and Julie Vass were named to the 2015 WCC Women's Soccer All-Academic Team while Hailai Arghandiwal, Megan Crosson, Jenna Holtz, Megan Keeth, Kellie Peay, Kat Uhl, and Dani Weatherholt were honorable mention.

"I'm very proud to have so many students recognized that exemplify the best of being a student and an athlete," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "Ultimately we're trying to have a culture that allows student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the field. I'm very happy for our nine players and especially proud of Julie Vass and Andi Tostanoski."

Tostanoski was also a member of the 2014 WCC All-Academic Team. She maintains a 3.58 GPA as a Biology major and is a team captain. She has started all 19 games this season and made 80 saves for a .889 save percentage that is No. 9 in the country. She also has the 14th best GAA in the nation at 0.52 as she has allowed just 10 goals. Tostanoski also has nine shutouts.

Vass, a 2014 WCC All-Academic honorable mention selection, has a 3.98 GPA as an Economics major. She leads Santa Clara with six goals, including five game-winners, and has added one assist for a team-best 13 points.

Holtz is a Philosophy major and has scored one goal to go with one assist in 19 games.

Uhl, a Business major, has appeared in 16 games this season.

Arghandiwal is majoring in Marketing and has played in 13 games with one assist.

Weatherholt, a Liberal Studies major and a team captain, has started all 19 games and scored three goals to go with two assists. Two of her goals have been game-winners. She was a 2014 WCC All-Academic honorable mention selection as well.

Crosson is a Marketing major and has played in all 19 games. She is tied for the WCC lead with seven assists. She was also named to the 2014 WCC All-Academic honorable mention list.

Keeth, a Business major, has appeared in 10 games for the Broncos.

Peay is majoring in Communications and has started all 19 games. She has scored twice and added an assist.

The Broncos finish the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gonzaga.
