Jan. 28, 2007

MONTEREY, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team rebounded from Saturday's defeat in spectacular fashion, defeating the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters 14-7 from Monterey, Calif. The #17th ranked Broncos are now an even 1-1 in 2007.

The Broncos came flying out of the gates, jumping on Cal State Monterey Bay immediately and scoring the first four goals of the game before the Otters managed to find the net for the first time in a first quarter that ended 6-2. The Broncos never let up, heading into halftime leading 9-3 before increasing that lead in the second half to account for the final 14-7 margin.

The Broncos received goals from eight different players in the victory, including Allie Lamb, Maria Jarrell, Emily Bonk, Jenny Knutson and Claire Linney. Meg Zimmerman, Christie Miller and Brianna Anderson each had two goals, and senior Katie Radvanyi netted her first hat-trick of the season.

Goalkeeper Randahl Capurro set the bar very high in Saturday's contest, making 11 blocks in the victory.
