Broncos Bounce Back With 12-2 Victory Over Bucknell At Triton Tournament

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team had a fantastic performance Saturday afternoon against Bucknell, scoring eleven goals to win 12-2 in their second game at the Triton Tournament. Christie Miller and Brianna Anderson had two goals each, and the Lamb twins combined for five assists.

After falling behind in the first quarter, Santa Clara battled back to lead 4-2 at halftime. After that, Santa Clara controlled the game the rest of the way, a strong rebound performance from their 9-7 defeat earlier in the day against UCSB.

In addition to Miller and Anderson, the Broncos received goals from Kellie Dunn, Jenny Knutson, Meg Zimmerman, Kendra Betke, Andrea Evans, Elizabeth Perry and Amy Lamb. Sophomore Claire Linney added a goal as well, after scoring two in the morning contest.

Allie Lamb had three assists, and sister Amy had two more. Anderson also had two assists and two steals. Katie Radvanyi had two assists and added two steals as well, and Meg Zimmerman had a steal and three kickouts drawn.

On defense, Randahl Capurro had 11 blocks in the cage and the Broncos defense held their opponent to their lowest goal total of the season.

"They (Bucknell) were up in the first, and then we came back in the 2nd," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "In the 2nd half we played really well to control the game. It was a great way to bounce back - our defense played strong and we go our counter attack going."

The Broncos will play two more games Sunday as the conclude the Triton Tournament.
