Broncos Lose To Nations Top Team 17-6

IRVINE, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team had a tough opponent in No. 1 ranked UCLA to start the UC Irvine Invitational Saturday, and the Broncos were unable to hold them off, falling 17-6 in the opening game of the tournament.

Brianna Anderson scored two goals for the Broncos, who also received goals from Emily Bonk, Allie Lamb, Jenny Knutson and Meg Zimmerman. Allie Lamb also had an assist and two kickouts drawn. Amy Lamb had two assists and two kickouts drawn and Claire Linney had three kickouts drawn.

Randahl Capurro was tested in the cage by the nation's top team and she had six blocks.

The Broncos will continue the UC Irvine Invitational this afternoon against San Diego State University.
