Santa Clara Opens Slugfest With 11-4 Win Over Colorado State

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team opened the SlugFest on Saturday, March 3 with a victory over WWPA Conference opponent Colorado State by a final score of 12-4. Emily Bonk had a hat-trick and Christie Miller had a solid defensive outing.

In addition to Bonks three goals, Amy Lamb and Katie Radvanyi each added two goals in what was a very strong offensive effort by Santa Clara. The Broncos also received goals from Kellie Dunn, Meg Zimmerman, Liz Perry and Brianna Anderson.

On the other side of the ball, Christie Miller helped to anchor a defense which kept Colorado State off the scoreboard. Miller finished the game with there steals. She was also an offensive contributor, and drew a kickout and a 4m penalty. Randahl Capurro had six blocks in the cage for Santa Clara and also added a steal and an assist.

Next up, the Broncos face another WWPA opponent, Cal State San Bernardino.
