SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Lauren Baglietto's golden goal in the seventh period lifted Santa Clara women's water polo to a 10-9 victory over Concordia on Saturday at the Sullivan Aquatics Center.
The win was the Broncos' first victory in conference play since March 29, 2019 (also over Concorida).
Kelly Frumkin had a monster game, connected on five of her seven shot attempts to finish with half of Santa Clara's 10 points. Mia Battilega, Maddie Clough, Elle Fredrickson and Chloe Morrison each scored one goal of their own.
Liyara Senadheera played all 41 minutes in the goal, finishing with 11 saves.
Santa Clara led 7-6 going into the final minute of action in the fourth quarter, but Concordia scored with just 39 seconds remaining to tie the game and send it to overtime. The Eagles then outscored the Broncos 2-1 in the first overtime period, but Morrison's goal at the 2 minute mark in the second overtime period tied things back up at 9-9.
After good defense on both sides for the majority of the sudden death, seventh period, Baglietto was able to deliver the final blow with her late goal just inside a minute to play.
The Broncos improved to 5-11 and 1-1 in league play.
