SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo senior center Lauren Baglietto earned All-Golden Coast Conference honors for the first time of her career after an outstanding year in the pool for the Broncos. The Fremont native earned a spot on the All-GCC Second Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Baglietto leads the team and is currently tied for eighth in the conference with 40 goals on the year. She has six games in which she has scored three or more goals, including a pair of four-goal outings against La Salle and Azusa Pacific. Baglietto is one of just three players on the team to start every game this season and is the team leader in drawn exclusions (47) and shot attempts (93) to go with 15 steals.
"Lauren has been a consitently strong player for us this year, and has been a leader on both ends of the pool," head coach Claire Linney said. "We are very happy that her hard work is beign recognized by the other coaches in the league."
The Broncos begin play at the GCC Championship Tournament this Friday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m. PT against LMU.
