SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After finishing the season last weekend, Santa Clara softball had five players honored by the WCC for their work in the classroom. Taylor Bojorquez, Ashley Haney, Jenna Krummen, and Jordan Newell were named to the WCC All-Academic Team while Amanda Delfino was Honorable Mention. The five honorees tied with BYU and Saint Mary's for the most on the team.

"What a great accomplishment for our five student-athletes that achieved academic honors," said Santa Clara head coach Lisa Mize. "I am so proud of them and the rest of our team for all the hard work and dedication they put in day in and day out on the field and in the classroom. We have amazing student-athletes here at Santa Clara and I am thrilled that our softball team continues to excel."

Bojorquez posts a 3.51 GPA in Economics. She appeared in 35 games and made 10 starts while scoring 10 runs.

Haney has a 3.55 GPA in Accounting. She appeared in 33 games and made 25 starts while a double, four RBI, and eight runs scored.

Krummen has a 3.27 GPA in Political Science. She appeared in 37 games and made 34 starts. She hit one home run, one triple, and three doubles while scoring 14 runs and driving in 10.

Newell has a 3.28 GPA in Sociology. She started all 50 games and hit five home runs and seven doubles. Newell finished tied for sixth all-time at Santa Clara with 11 career home runs. She added 16 runs scored and 21 RBI while posting a program-best .995 fielding percentage at first base.

Delfino has a 3.20 in Psychology. She appeared in 34 games and made 15 starts while hitting .275. She scored seven runs and knocked in two.
