Softball Hires Breezy Bernard as Volunteer Assistant Coach

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball has hired former Bronco Breezy Bernard at the volunteer assistant coach. Bernard graduated with a degree in Marketing in 2015 and is attending graduate school at Santa Clara. She will work primarily with the catchers and hitters.

"I'm really excited to be on the coaching staff this year," said Bernard. "Santa Clara softball has grown tremendously as a program over the past five years and it has been a pleasure to be a part of it. I can't wait to see what the team can accomplish this season."

"We are thrilled to have Breezy back with us in her new role as Volunteer Assistant Coach," said Santa Clara head coach Lisa Mize "Breezy has always been a well respected and very knowledgeable player. I believe she will thrive in the coaching realm as well."

Bernard was First Team All-WCC in 2014 and All-WCC Honorable Mention in 2015. She hit a career-high .310 as a junior and just missed the .300 mark with a .296 averaged as a senior.

She is all over the Santa Clara record book from her time as the Santa Clara catcher. On the single season list she is t-No. 1 with four sac flies (2012) and t-No. 4 with 13 doubles (2015). On the career list she is No. 2 with six sac flies, No. 8 with 26 doubles, and t-No. 9 with a .970 fielding percentage.
