Davidson Earns All-WCC Honors; Men Take 4th, Women 7th at WCC Cross Country Championships

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Racing for the first time in two seasons, Santa Clara cross country's Jack Davidson turned in one of the team's best performances in more than a decade at Wednesday's WCC Championships. He finished in eighth place to land a spot on the All-WCC Team, becoming the first men's runner to earn the honor at the conference meet since Robbie Reid finished as runner-up in 2009.

Davidson clocked an 8k 23:37.7 to help the men's team take fourth place for the second straight season. In her Santa Clara debut, freshman Kinsey Hall led the women's side with a 6k 22:57.3 to take 42nd place. The team finished in seventh at Craig Ranch Regional Park.

MEN'S 8K

Davidson scored for the Broncos along with Zach Litoff (23rd – 24:28.8), Drew Burns (26th – 24:34.1), Ian Twyman (32nd – 24:54.5) and Nicholas Russell (36th – 25:10.3). Kyle Johnson, James Konugres, Christian Raslowsky and Harvey Chilcott also competed.

The Broncos totaled 108 points. No. 1 BYU won the race with 25 points, led by individual medalist Conner Mantz's 22:54.4. The Cougars went 1-3-5-7-9. Gonzaga (51 points) took second and No. 8 Portland was third (62), followed by the Broncos, Pepperdine (169), San Francisco (176), LMU (203), Saint Mary's (221) and San Diego (238).

Head coach Felipe Montoro: "The team performed really well; all things considered we did great. Drew Burns and Jack Davidson really stood out. The only teams that beat us are top-20 teams in the country, and we are closing the gap on them every year. I'm so proud of the team. I would be shocked if Jack isn't selected for an individual bid for the NCAA championships."

WOMEN'S 6K

Hall scored for the Broncos along with Hayley Harrison (47th – 23:05.8), Sarah King (48th – 23:09.5), Irene Nagasaka (52nd – 23:32.5) and Hope Olbricht (53rd – 23:34.4). Hannah Aguirre, Luciana Lenth, Sasha Codiga and Maiya Fujiwara also competed.

The Broncos totaled 201 points. No. 2 BYU won the race with 28 points, placing runners at 2-3-5-7-11. Anna Pataki won the race for No. 25 Portland with a 19:56.0 and the Pilots finished in second as a team with 49 points. No. 30 San Francisco (68 points) took third, followed by Gonzaga (98), San Diego (178), Saint Mary's (200), the Broncos, LMU (206), Pacific (253) and Pepperdine (294).
