SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field closes out its regular season on Sunday by facing off with Saint Mary's in the SCU vs SMC Bay Area Dual meet at Terry Ward Track on the campus of Bellarmine College Prep. The SCU-hosted event begins with the women's 400-meter dash at 9 a.m. and the final race is the men's 4x400-meter relay at 10:20 a.m.

Fans will not be permitted inside the track facility as the priority continues to be the health and safety of participating student-athletes, coaches and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. The university will continue to evaluate policies for access to events. While the state of California announced guidance for outdoor seated venues on April 1, the university reserves the right to be more cautious than public health guidance for Santa Clara-hosted events, both on and off campus grounds.

"We are really grateful for the opportunity to have a 'home' meet and I want to personally thank Bellarmine and our administration for making it happen," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "The team is really excited. We are ready to compete and close out the regular season with a bang." 

"We've been traveling a little bit more than a typical season this Spring, so having a chance to finally race in our own back yard is a nice way to close out the regular season," associate head coach Pete Cushman said. "We like the dual format because some of these track meets late in the year become time-chasing events, which can be fun in its own way, but the real fun is just going head-to-head against a program you're familiar with and trying to get some wins and score points for your team.  

"We've had a great season and this will be a nice way to close it out. We've got several NCAA preliminary qualifiers, and this meet could serve as an opportunity to improve on some of those places and see about adding more student-athletes to that list."
