Davidson Sets Men’s 5,000m Track & Field Record, Women Post Four Top-Five Finishes

AZUSA, Calif./SPOKANE, Wash. — Jack Davidson bested his own 5,000-meter program record for men's track & field and the women's team posted four top-five finishes as part of another banner round of competition for the Broncos Friday and Saturday. The men raced at the Azusa Pacific-hosted Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium while the women competed at the Whitworth College-hosted Sam Adams Classic at Boppell Track.

The Broncos recorded 17 new personal-best marks, including 10 new times for the program's top 10 lists.

Davidson became the first Bronco to go sub-14:00 at 5,000m with a 13:58.41, good for 13th place in the field of 65. He now holds three program records: 1,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m. Zach Litoff (14:10.75) and Xander Olivero (14:11.19) became the second- and third-fastest Broncos at that distance in program history. Ian Twyman (14:21.95) and Kyle Johnson (14:23.23) checked in at No. 5 and No. 6 all-time for the Broncos.

Christian Raslowsky won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a PR 8:56.80 for the third-fastest steeple mark in program history. Alex Scales captured second place at 800 meters with a 1:50.60. Spencer Fischer became the second-fastest Bronco at 1,500 meters with a 3:47.79 and Nicholas Russell became the fifth-fastest Bronco with a 3:50.07 in his first collegiate race at that distance.

"This team loves to compete," head coach Felipe Montoro said of the men's squad. "We try really hard to keep our focus on the racing and not the times, and it showed again at Bryan Clay."

Sophia Morris clocked an 800-meter 2:16.14 for the sixth-best time in women's program history. She took third place in the field of 29.

Three other women's runners had top-five finishes. In their 3,000m collegiate debuts, Hayley Harrison (10:14.56) and Kinsey Hall (10:22.23) took fourth and fifth place, respectively. Daniela Camacho became the sixth-fastest 3,000m steeplechase runner in program history with an 11:48.65 and crossed the finish line in fourth place.
