SAN FRANCISCO - The Santa Clara baseball team saw its weekend series at San Francisco tied as the Dons posted a 9-1 win over the Broncos. The two teams will battle for the series win on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m.

SCU fell to 15-19 with the loss and 4-7 in West Coast Conference play, while USF improved to 18-21 overall and 5-6 in league action. The Dons out-hit the Broncos 12-7, while Santa Clara struck out 11 batters compared to USF's six.

The win was earned by Doug Murray. He remains undefeated with a 7-0 record. The loss went to Thain Simon (3-4). He tossed three innings, gave up eight of the Dons runs and struck out a game-high seven batters.

San Francisco earned all nine of its runs by the fourth inning. Bronco relievers of J.R. Graham, Paul Twining and Joe Supple did a solid job of holding off any additional Dons runs.
