SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara baseball continues action against Ivy League opposition this weekend as it hosts Dartmouth in a three-game series at Stephen Schott Stadium. The Broncos and Big Green open the series on Saturday, March 21 with a single game at 1 p.m. SCU and Dartmouth then battle in a Sunday, March 22 doubleheader also beginning at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Broncos compiled their largest win streak of the season thus far after going 4-0 last week. SCU defeated the Aggies of UC Davis in a 13-7 slugfest. The Broncos then went on to sweep the Big Red of Cornell over the weekend.

Bronco Watch
The Broncos are led by Jon Karcich, who is batting .360 on the season. He is also tied for first on the squad with 10 runs and seven doubles. Matt Long also had 10 runs, two triples and two home runs. He is second on the team with 10 RBIs. Geoff Klein leads SCU with 18 RBIs. On the mound, Nate Garcia owns a 3-1 record and a 2.10 ERA. He has struck out 33 batters in 30.0 innings. Alex Rivers is 1-0 on the season with a 2.60 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.
Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green will face the Spartans of San Jose State on Friday before entering the three-game series with the Broncos. Dartmouth (0-3) is still looking for win No. 1 as it fell 8-7 to Pacific on Wednesday. On the season, first baseman Mike Pagliarulo leads the team hitting .455 with three doubles.

On Deck
SCU takes to the road for a midweek game against Cal on Wednesday, March 25. The Broncos and Golden Bears will have a 2:30 p.m. first pitch at Evans Diamond in Berkeley. Santa Clara then returns home to open the West Coast Conference season against LMU on March 27-29.

Matt Long Climbs In SCU Record Books
Outfielder Matt Long entered the Santa Clara all-time record books after Wednesday's game against UC Davis. Now after the three-game sweep of Cornell, the Los Altos, Calif., native is ranked in four career categories and is not far out of entering two more. Long is tied for fifth in triples (10), is ninth in total bases (322), and 10th in at bats (718) and hits (223).
Medica Named To Johnny Bench Watch List
Junior Tommy Medica was one of 44 catchers to be named to the initial Coleman Company - Johnny Bench Award Watch List it was announced on Mar. 16. The list also includes USF junior Ryan Lipkin. The list narrowed down to 10 semifinalists on May 14 and then to three finalists announced on June 3. The award will be presented to the winner at the 12th Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 26. Medica received three preseason All-America honors. He leads the team with a .429 batting average and has scored nine runs in nine games with seven doubles, one home run and an RBI.
Gone Streaking
Senior infielder Brady Fuerst is on a nine-game hitting streak. His run began on Feb. 28 against San Jose State and includes five doubles and five RBIs. Matt Long is also streaking with a seven-game rally. His began on March 7 at Oregon and includes one home run, two triples, one double, six RBIs and six runs.
Going...Going...Gone!
David Abraham was the latest Bronco to register a home run. He had his in game one of the doubleheader against Cornell. The homer went to right field and drove in an extra run with it. Long leads the Broncos with two home runs, while Tommy Medic and Klein each have one.
Lights! Camera! Action!
Santa Clara will return to the bright lights of national television this season. The Broncos' final game against the Toreros of San Diego on April 5 will be aired on ESPNU. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Stephen Schott Stadium. Last season, Santa Clara played Bay Area rival Stanford in two games televised on CBS College Sports. The Broncos are 1-1 in TV games.
