Camp Description: Our most popular camp session of the summer! Participants will first be grouped by age, ability, and prior experiences. During the morning session throughout the week, participants will be coached in several baseball skills, fundamentals, and team concepts. Members of the camp will receive instruction in a variety of areas including hitting, infield play, outfield play, pitching, catching, rundowns, double plays and base running. In the afternoon, players will use instruction received during the morning session and put skills to use in game situations on the Schott Stadium field. Each team will play together for the duration of the camp week and will be coached by a hand-picked member of our camp staff. When not playing games, campers will hit in our hitting facility or watch baseball-related video content in our Varsity Team Room. Santa Clara seeks a low player to coach ratio to preserve the family-style environment it values. All sessions will be held at Stephen Schott Stadium, Santa Clara's 3 year-old state of the art $8.6 million baseball facility. Campers are asked to bring appropriate baseball attire and equipment including: cleats, baseball pants, hat, glove, bat and helmet (if available). Campers may bring their own lunch or purchase a lunch for $30 when registering online.
Prospect Camp
Dates: July 25-29, 2009
Ages: High School (specifically players entering their junior and senior years - classes of 2009 and 2010)
Overnight Fee: $750 (includes all meals and lodging)
Commute Fee: $600 (no meals or lodging)
Camp Description: The 2009 High School Prospect Camp at Santa Clara University offers serious student-athletes the opportunity to receive quality instruction from exceptional and experienced baseball coaches. In 2005, the SCU baseball staff designed and implemented the summer High School Prospect Camp format to attract quality baseball talent to our Bay Area campus. We believe that the experience offers student-athletes the chance to grasp what sets Santa Clara University and Bronco Baseball apart from other colleges and universities across the country. Bronco Baseball demands that its athletes work hard every day at a relaxed, intense level with much energy and enthusiasm, and our Prospect Camp is no different. Our goal is for you to experience first-hand how we teach, practice, and play the game here at Santa Clara. At the same time, it offers our entire coaching staff the ability to view players such as you in person in an extremely competitive environment. At the end of camp, we will allow you to develop a positive approach, mentally and physically, to the game.
Each day, each player will receive defensive practice at his noted primary position (including pitchers), offensive instruction, participate in a competitive game, and receive an evaluation from the coaches following the Camp. As noted, the applicant must choose one position to apply for the Prospect Camp. You may play at more one position in the Camp, but players are assigned to teams using their selected primary position. Based upon last year, we anticipate a wait list at every position. Confirmation of registration or wait list will be emailed prior to the beginning of camp. Further information (travel forms, medical forms, daily schedule, list of coaches, etc.) will be emailed the beginning of July, 2009.
