STANFORD - The Santa Clara baseball team fell 11-1 to Stanford Monday night at Sunken Diamond. With the win, the Cardinal take the non-conference series. The Broncos will look to prevent the sweep on Wednesday, May 6 at Stephen Schott Stadium.

Stanford starter Scott Snodgress (1-2) earned his first win of the season after three innings in which he gave up no runs on four hits. The loss went to SCU starter Steve Kalush (1-4).

The Broncos were nearly shutout until the ninth inning when junior Geoff Klein scored the lone run. Klein hid a leadoff single and then advanced to second on a passed ball. With a Brady Fuerst fly out, Klein moved to third and then scored, unearned, on an Andrew Biancardi base hit.

Stanford out-hit Santa Clara 18-8, while strikeouts were tied at four a piece.

After Stanford claimed a 7-0 lead before Santa Clara was able to garner any hits. In the third inning, the Broncos loaded the bases with one out on the board.
