Men's Water Polo Downs Concordia on the Road

IRVINE, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo opened its brief two-game road trip with a convincing 13-5 victory over Concordia.

Cody Ferguson scored three times and Ford Eldredge, Caedmon Fisher and Zach Fales tallied two goals apiece for the Broncos (12-11, 2-3) in the Western Water Polo Association matchup.

Jeff Runyan had a game-high four goals for the Eagles who led just briefly early in the second quarter.

Blake D'Souza's goal with 5:24 left before halftime started a run of six straight goals that opened a 7-2 advantage for Santa Clara midway through the third period.

Runyan's goal with 10 seconds remaining in the third cut the deficit to 8-4, but the Broncos scored the next three, including two from Fales.

Jake Taylor had three assists and Zales and Dominick Kirk chipped in two apiece for the Broncos who needed only 25 shots to produce their goal total.

Chase Zamborelli earned the win in net with 12 blocks and a pair of steals.
