Men's Water Edged on the Road by California Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - PJ McDonough posted four goals, including the late game-winner, to help lead California Baptist to an 11-10 win over Santa Clara men's water polo on Saturday afternoon.

Caleb Teraoka and Zach Lowery each scored twice for the Lancers (15-13, 4-2) in a Western Water Polo Association game that was tied six times.

McDonough had three goals in the fourth quarter. He snapped a 9-all tie with 2:05 left and then scored the game-winner 48 seconds later off a feed from Lowery.

Zach Fales scored three times and Ford Eldredge and Blake D'Souza had two goals each for the Broncos (12-12, 2-4).

Eldredge scored with the extra attacker with 40 seconds left.

Santa Clara got the ball back, but turned it over before getting off a final attempt.

Fales scored as time expired in the third quarter to snap a 6-all tie and give Santa Clara its only lead of the game.

But McDonough scored 27 seconds into the fourth quarter, the first of three straight goals for the Lancers.

D'Souza's goal with 2:29 remaining tied the game at 9-all.

Both teams took advantage with the extra attacker. The Lancers were 3 of 4 and the Broncos 4-for-8.

Goalie Sean Tehaney recorded a career-high 16 blocks but suffered the loss.

Tristan Felberg had only six saves for the Lancers but earned the win.

NOTES

Ford Eldredge, Jake Taylor, Blake D'Souza, Chase Raisin, Dominick Kirk and Cody Ferguson started along with Sean Tehaney in goal.
