SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Izzy D'Aquila and Sally Menti were named Preseason All-West Coast Conference on Wednesday and Santa Clara women's soccer was picked to finish second in a poll of the league's 10 head coaches.
D'Aquila is the team's top returning scorer after netting eight goals in 2021. She added four assists as well for 20 points. Her goals and assists were second on the team and her assist total was third. She was named First Team All-WCC for the second year in a row and third time overall in 2021.
Menti, who is currently with the US at the U20 World Cup, scored a goal while adding two assists a season ago. The year before, she was the WCC Freshman of the Year.
Santa Clara has won the WCC title each of the last two seasons. The Broncos were outright champions in 2021 en route to their National Championship and co-champions last year with BYU but earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament due to a head-to-head win over BYU.
The season opens August 18 at San Jose State with the home-opener coming August 21 vs. UC Davis. You can purchase tickets here.
