Women's Soccer Beats San Diego to Remain Perfect in WCC Action

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Now more than halfway through the conference season, Santa Clara women's soccer stayed perfect with a 2-1 win at San Diego on Wednesday night.

The offense was the story of the night for the Broncos (8-6-1, 5-0 WCC) who kept up the pressure for most of the 90 minutes, firing off a season-high 26 shots and putting 13 on goal. Izzy D'Aquila set a new career-high with her 16th of the year in the 20th minute and Colby Barnett scored directly off a corner kick in the 36th. Isabel Dehakiz and Farrah Walters picked up assists.

An unbelievable night from Sophine Kevorkian kept the Toreros (2-10-3, 0-5 WCC) within shouting distance. Kevorkian ended up with 11 saves, including four on one-on-one chances by the Santa Clara attack. San Diego's lone goal came with just 32 seconds left in the first half off the foot off Leila Kahoano on assists from Belle Piete and Talei Moodie.
