Women's Soccer Drops Tough Match to No. 8 Penn State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – it was a frustrating night for Santa Clara women's soccer who looked extremely dangerous on offense but still fell to No. 8 Penn State 1-0 on an own goal.

Despite a fairly even first 45 minutes the Nittany Lions (4-1-1) had a 1-0 lead thanks to an own goal in the 14th minute. The Broncos (1-4) came out and dominated the second half, creating chance after chance but couldn't find the equalizer.

NOTES

  • Santa Clara had an 18-5 edge in shots and a 4-1 lead in shots on goal.
  • The Broncos drew 10 corner kicks while allowing just one.
  • Izzy D'Aquila led the way with six shots with Lucy Mitchell adding three and Holly Furphy, Makoto Nezu, and Alyssa Bourgeois all collecting two.
