D'Aquila Nabs Second Consecutive WCC Offensive Player of the Week Nod

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second week in a row, Izzy D'Aquila was named the West Coast Conference Women's Offensive Player of the Week.

After a brace against Stanford earned her the honors last week, D'Aquila topped herself with one of the best offensive performances in Santa Clara history. The senior scored four goals in a nonconference match against San Francisco, becoming just the third Bronco with at least four goals in a game. She joined Kristi DeVert who scored four against Oregon State on September 11, 1991 and Mikka Hansen who scored five against Gonzaga on October 25, 1996.

It was the Broncos' 30th hat trick overall and D'Aquila became the 19th Bronco to accomplish the feat. It was the second hat trick of the year for Santa Clara after Farrah Walters scored three times at Oregon on September 8. This is the first year they have had multiple hat tricks in a season since 2013 when they got three from Morgan Marlborough and one from Sofia Huerta. That season they finished the year second in the nation in scoring.

D'Aquila leads the WCC and is tied for 12th national with eight goals. Her 18 points is also tied for 12th in the country.

Santa Clara begins WCC play Saturday at 1 p.m. against Pacific.
