Trierweiler Named WCC Softball Player of the Week

WCC Release

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball redshirt sophomore Ashley Trierweiler was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday after going 7-for-10 in three games over the weekend, including six RBIs and five runs scored to help the Broncos to a pair of wins.

In Saturday's game against Marist, Santa Clara scored nine runs, sending 13 batters to the plate in the opening frame where Trierweiler, in her customary leadoff spot, scored twice and drove in two runs in her second at-bat en route to a 9-1 victory.

The Bronco outfielder again kick started the offense in Sunday's victory over North Dakota leading the game off with a single before scoring the first run.  In the second inning, Trierweiler tallied an RBI to give SCU a 3-0 lead to finish the game going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs in a game they would win 9-1.

Trierweiler leads the team with a .389 batting average this season along with a .436 on-base percentage and 12 steals.

It is the first such honor for Trierweiler.

The Broncos next play on March 31 at CSU Bakersfield.
