PROVO, Utah - Autumn Moffat-Korth and Chloe Temples combined to allow two runs in BYU's 4-2 win over Santa Clara softball in the West Coast Conference series finale on Saturday at Gail Miller Field.
Moffat-Korth (14-7) scattered seven hits and two runs, both unearned, over six innings to pick up the win before giving way to Temples in the seventh. Temples inherited a runner at first but retired three-straight Broncos to close out the game to earn her second save of the season.
Just as they did in the first two games of the series, the Broncos (18-26, 4-5 WCC) got on the board first. Ashley Trierweiler led the game off with a single, stole second and came home on a Cougar error. But the Broncos could not push another run across until the seventh when Abigail Charpentier knocked in her first career run.
Meanwhile, BYU (34-10, 7-2 WCC) collected eight hits in the game and got an RBI from four different players. Marissa Chavez hit a sacrifice fly RBI in the second to tie the game up at 1-all.
In the third, Taylei Williams and Hutyr Ava each drove in a run to give BYU a 3-1 advantage.
The Cougars added another run in the fourth to make it 4-1 behind Hannah Jo Peterson's RBI single.
Each of the BYU runs came against starter Sage Hager (8-4) who took the loss giving up seven hits, four runs, two earned, over four innings.
Peterson and Brooke Hill-Barrington had two hits apiece for BYU while Trierweiler was the only Bronco with multiple hits.
