NOTES

Santa Clara hosts Saint Mary's for their West Coast Conference home opener this weekend.
The Broncos play their first home game since March 13 and last played on April 10.
SCU is 7-6 at home this season.
The Broncos are 2-1 in conference play, taking the series against Pacific. This is the second of five three-game conference series the Broncos will play for a total of 15 WCC games.
Saturday's doubleheader games will mark only the fifth and sixth games played this month and just the seventh and eighth games played in the last 33 days.
Among the league leaders (as of April 18):
- OF Ashley Trierweiler: first in hits (48); second in stolen bases (12), third in batting average (.375)
- INF Emma Bickford: tied for first in doubles (11); tied for ninth in hits (38)
- INF Allyson Ferreira: first in sacrifice bunts per game (0.22)
- RHP Sage Hager: first in walks allowed per seven innings (0.53), a mark that's good for second in the nation; first in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.60); second in ERA (1.80)
- RHP Hannah Edwards: fourth in walks allowed per seven innings (1.56)

SCU, under third-year head coach Gina Carbonatto, entered the season picked to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference as voted on by the six conference head coaches.
Santa Clara finished the 2021 campaign with an 8-20 record including 5-10 in WCC play.
A full schedule is on the docket for the 2022 season. Among the 51 regular season games, 20 will be played at Santa Clara Softball Stadium, 18 true road games and 13 neutral site contests. The Broncos will play seven games against four teams – BYU, Fresno State, Iowa State and Stanford – that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Broncos field an experienced squad with 15 returnees including 13 that played in 2021 and two that last played in 2020.
Six newcomers dot the roster - Lauren Bryson, Abigail Charpentier, Sage Hager, Kelsi Rice, Morgan Salmon and Nina Taylor.
The top three hitters from 2021 return - Ashley Trierweiler (program record .481 batting average), Emma Bickford (.329) and Allyson Ferreira (.282). Sammy Needham, who hit .394 in 2020 but did not play last season returns in 2022.
Trierweiler and Bickford were named preseason All-WCC as vote on by the league's six head coaches.
In the circle, the Broncos return all five pitchers from 2021 plus Hannah Edwards who last pitched in 2020 where she appeared in 11 games, going 3-6 with a 3.31 ERA.

SCHEDULE

The 2022 schedule features games against four teams - BYU, Fresno State, Iowa State and Stanford - that qualified for the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Tickets are SOLD OUT for Sunday's game, there will be no walk-up tickets available. However, tickets are still available for Saturday's doubleheader games.

PARKING

For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start of the first game. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Fans should utilize the main parking structure if the Leavey lot is full.
