Women’s Tennis Loses to Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford beat Santa Clara women's tennis 7-0 on Friday at the Taube Family Tennis Courts.

India Houghton clinched the match for the Cardinal defeating Lindsey Pesqueira 6-0, 6-1 on court six.

Playing in the first match of the 2021 spring season, Stanford (1-0) won all three doubles matches with the clincher coming on court one courtesy of Michaela Gordon and Niluka Madurawe.  The Cardinal duo beat Finley Kalinic and Katherine Petty 6-3.

On court one in singles play, the sibling battle between Gordon and JennaMarie Gordon went in favor of  Stanford's No. 10-ranked player.

Kalinic took Sara Choy to three sets before succumbing to a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) defeat. 

The Broncos (1-2) returns to action on Saturday, hosting San Jose State at the Degheri Tennis Center.  First serve is at 11 a.m.

Due to current guidelines in Santa Clara County, spectators will not be permitted inside Degheri Tennis Center. In addition, only essential personnel is allowed on campus. The general public is allowed only to 'pass through' campus, such as on a walk, but no lingering, gathering, lounging, etc. is permitted.
