Women's Tennis Falls to Gonzaga on the Road

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga picked up three wins in singles after securing the doubles point to down Santa Clara women's tennis, 4-1, on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (10-4, 2-1) had production at the bottom of the singles order in the West Coast Conference matchup as straight set wins by Hannah Jones over Giulia Hayer (6-2, 6-2) on court five and Jenna Sloan over Varya Zlotnik (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 6 position increased the lead to 3-0.

JennaMarie Gordon secured the lone point for the Broncos (2-10, 0-4), defeating Kate Ketels 7-5, 6-4 on court No. 1.

But shortly after that match concluded Cate Broerman edged Jamie Schroer 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Bulldogs who won for the fifth time in their last six outings.

The other two singles matches were in the third set when the Bulldogs clinched the match.

Jones teamed with Adriana Sosnowska to down Santa Clara's Katherine Petty and Finley Kalinic 6-1 on court one to clinch the doubles point.

The Broncos will play at Portland on Saturday with the match set to start at 11 a.m.
