NOTES

  • Santa Clara plays the next three on the road beginning with the matchup against San Diego. The Broncos had their four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 3-2 home loss to Saint Mary's. Santa Clara has won its last two on the road, rallying from two sets down to defeat Portland on Oct. 14 and sweeping Gonzaga two days later.
  • San Diego had its eight-match winning streak end on Saturday in a 3-0 loss against then eighth-ranked BYU, 3-0. The Toreros have a perfect 5-0 record at home.
  • The Broncos fell at home to San Diego, 3-1, on Oct. 2. That marked the only set the Toreros dropped in their first six West Coast Conference matches.
  • Four of Santa Clara's losses have come against top 25 foes (Oregon, Pepperdine, BYU, San Diego). Two of the program's setbacks in WCC play occurred in five sets - to Pepperdine at home (Sept. 25) and at Saint Mary's (Sept. 28).
  • Santa Clara closed out nonconference play with a 3-0 win over Oregon State at the Boise State Classic on Sept. 17, for their second sweep of the season (also vs. Nevada, Sept. 3).
  • The Broncos rank fourth in kills per set (12.32), fifth in hitting percentage (.229) and fifth in the WCC in service aces per set (1.76). Santa Clara has hit at .266 clip in the last five games, including .310 against Pacific (Oct. 21), which was the best output during WCC play.
  • Julia Sangiacomo (3.55), Michelle Shaffer (3.29) and Sophia Tulino (3.15) and rank fifith, ninth and 11th, respectively, in the conference in kills per set.
  • Kat Georgiadis is second in the league at 4.22 digs per set.
  • Shaffer (0.41), Sangiacomo (0.38) and Anna Stucchi (0.38) rank sixth, ninth and 10th, respectively, in the WCC in service aces per set. 
  • Nive Tuileta (9.65) ranks fourth in the league in assists per set.

SERIES HISTORY

  • San Diego leads the all-time series, 43-34, with wins in the last 13 matchups. The first meeting between the programs occurred in 1979.
