Women's Water Polo Senior Earns League Player of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Maggie Oys of Santa Clara women's water polo was named the Golden Coast Conference co-Player of the Week.

Oys recorded seven goals, three assists, four steals and three earned ejections for the Broncos who split their four games at the Wolverine Invitational at the University of Michigan.

The senior scored twice and had two assists in Saturday's 10-7 win over Iona on Saturday. The next morning, she helped the team to a 13-7 victory over Saint Francis with two goals.

Oys capped off the tournament with two goals and two steals in a 13-7 loss to Long Beach State after Santa Clara had suffered injuries.

"Oys really stepped up this past weekend," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "She played great defense, made good decisions on offense, and hit some really big shots at key moments in a couple of our games.  I am really happy to see that she was recognized as the GCC Player of the Week."

The Broncos (8-6) play their next three games at home, including a matchup with San Diego State on Friday at 4 p.m.
