SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 2020 season was cut short for Santa Clara women's water polo, including its eight-member senior class.
That group, which features Emma Allegrucci, Kendra Bean, Lydia Dadd, Hailey Eberle, Katie Francis, Maddy Gomes, Maggie Ireland and Maggie Oys, would have been recognized on in the final home game of the season on April 18.
"Along with the normal challenges of a season, our team also faced several unexpected challenges away from the pool," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "Our senior class really kept this team together with great leadership, supporting everybody on the team and each other through adversity while continuing to work hard and perform at a high level in the pool. I have the utmost respect and admiration for this year's senior class, and I will always remember them and their unusual senior season very fondly."
The following are social media posts for each one of the seniors with teammates sharing memories or special moments.
