SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's water polo signed three more players to national letters of intent in the spring for the 2020-21 season. Elle Fredrickson, Liyara Senadheera, and Adelina Hernandez will join the Broncos in the fall.
Maddie Clough and Chloe Morrison who signed in the fall of 2019 will join that trio as incoming freshmen.
Fredrickson hails from Shoreline, Washington, where she attended Shorewood High School and was the team MVP every year in addition to being a captain her last three seasons. She led the team in steals, goals, and assists.
In the classroom, Fredrickson was a USAWP Academic All-American and was as a principal's scholar for finishing in the top 5 percent of her graduating class. She also was on the dean's list with distinction all four years.
Senadheera is from San Anselmo, California, and attended Sir Francis Drake High School. She was her team's MVP in 2019 after being voted most improved in 2018 and best defensive player in 2017. Sendaheera was 2018-19 MCAL All-League Goalie of the Year when her team was CIF NCS Division I champions. That season she collected 307 saves, 34 steals, nine assists, and six 5m saves.
Out of the pool, Senadheera founded PediaCare International, a nonprofit organization providing fundraising for disabled and sick children of Sri Lanka. She was also a San Anselmo Parks and Rec community service volunteer and volunteered at WindChime of Marin, a memory care center.
Hernandez attended CK McClatchy High School and comes from Sacramento, California. As a senior, she was her team captain and MVP as well as MVP of the Metropolitan League as her team won the league championship. They were also champions her junior year and she was named all-league. During her sophomore campaign, Hernandez was JV MVP and captain.
She teaches swim lessons and coaches youth water polo.
