Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball — Class of 2020: Brandon Buckley

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Today, Bronco baseball announces the first member of its incoming freshman class for 2016-17, Brandon Buckley. The right-handed pitcher currently attends Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, Calif.

"I was blessed to have offers from multiple schools, but Santa Clara was clearly the best spot for me with my academic and athletic goals," Buckley said. "During my visit, I connected and felt really comfortable with the coaching staff."

Buckley went 11-2 with a 0.77 ERA for the MCAL runner-up and NCS semifinalist Wildcats in his junior season. He was named MCAL pitcher of the year and his team's most improved player.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound prospect was also named First Team All-Bay Area and California Medium Schools First Team All-State. Buckley tossed a no-hitter against San Rafael last season.

"Brandon Buckley is a guy who is going to come in and make a big impact right away. He really has a feel for pitching," associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Gabe Ribas said. "He is a strike-throwing machine that is only going to get better as he gets bigger and stronger. This guy is going to have a huge impact on the field now and in years to come."

Next week's future Bronco is Luke Genova.
