SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara baseball's Mitchell White was selected in the second round (65th overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft Thursday night. The San Jose native is the highest Bronco draft pick since Randy Winn in 1995, who went in the third round (also with the 65th overall pick) to the Florida Marlins.

White was the West Coast Conference's regular season strikeout champion; he fanned 118 batters in 2016. That mark was the most by a Santa Clara pitcher since 1996 and tied for seventh in the NCAA regular season. He made 15 starts, pitched 92.0 innings and had a 3.72 ERA en route to All-WCC Honorable Mention honors.

The right-hander is also the first Bronco drafted in the top two rounds since Greg Gohr in 1989 (First Round, 21st Overall, Detroit Tigers).
