SANTA CLARA, Calif. — During its final homestand of the 2016 season, Santa Clara baseball will host a Salute to Service game Saturday, May 14 at Schott Stadium. First pitch for the contest is slated for 6 p.m. as the Broncos host the Portland Pilots.

Santa Clara's Salute to Service honors all that currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces in addition to emergency first responders (police, paramedics, firefighters).

"If there is absolutely anything we can do to be in service to the men and women who fight for our freedoms, we will do it," Bronco head coach Dan O'Brien said. "We're very excited to start this venture, and to support our Armed Forces both overseas and here at home."

Service members are eligible to receive two free tickets at the Schott Stadium box office with proof of service I.D. or mention of affiliation. Prior to gameday, all fans can use the promo code SCUSalute16 to purchase discounted Salute to Service tickets at santaclarabroncos.com or by calling the ticket office at 408-554-4660.

Santa Clara University Army ROTC will present the nation's colors and honor our country with the singing of the national anthem as part of pregame ceremonies.

A silent auction will be held during the game for the chance to win a limited edition camouflage Santa Clara baseball hat. All proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

About the Wounded Warrior Project

The purpose of WWP is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other; and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

Today, nearly 100,000 wounded service members, their family members, and caregivers receive support each year through free Wounded Warrior Project programs and services.

These programs focus on the physical, mental, and long-term financial well-being of this generation of injured veterans and their families.

All silent auction proceeds will aid in achieving their mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.
