Women's Basketball Plays San Diego in Leavey Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After playing four of five on the road, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to Leavey Center for a quick two-game homestand beginning with San Diego Thursday at 7 p.m.

Last week the Broncos dropped a tight game to San Francisco and fell at league-leading Gonzaga.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 33-39 all-time against San Diego with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. Last year the Toreros won both games in the season series by a combined three points.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (5-14, 1-7 WCC) is led by its conference-best defense that allows 58.4 points per game while forcing 16.6 turnovers per game and collecting 9.1 steals per game.

Morgan McGwire leads the team in scoring (10.6 ppg), rebounding (8.7 pg) and steals (2.2 pg) and is second in the WCC in blocks (1.9 pg). Ashlyn Herlihy scores 9.3 ppg and adds 4.8 rpg with Taylor Berry scoring 7.7 ppg and grabbing 6.4 rpg. Kyla Martin scores 8.5 ppg and leads Santa Clara with 4.8 assists per game.

THE TOREROS
San Diego (12-7, 5-3 WCC) has won three in a row, beating LMU and BYU during the stretch. The Toreros score 68.6 ppg on 42.6-percent shooting from the field.

Aubrey Ward leads San Diego with 15.1 ppg and 29 3-pointers made. Ward also leads the team with 3.0 apg. Maya Hood is scoring 12.3 ppg on a team-best 48.9-percent shooting from the field and leads the Toreros with 7.2 rpg. Sydney Williams scores 10.5 ppg and brings down 4.2 rpg.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
