Home Matchup with Portland Up Next for Women's Basketball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball welcomes Portland to Leavey Center Thursday at 7 p.m. in a West Coast Conference matchup.

Last week, the Broncos fell at home to BYU and on the road to San Diego.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 43-30 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1986-87. The Broncos have won nine in a row in the series, dating back to the 2013-14 season, including a 50-43 win on the road earlier this year.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (7-18, 3-11 WCC) allows a conference-low 57.4 points per game while forcing 16.1 turnovers per game and collecting 8.9 steals per game.

Morgan McGwire is second in the WCC in rebounding (9.2 pg) and blocks (1.8 pg) while placing fifth in steals (2.2 pg). McGwire also leads the Broncos with 9.9 ppg. Kyla Martin leads the team with 4.4 assists per game and scores 8.2 ppg. Ashlyn Herlihy scores 8.5 ppg to go with 4.7 rpg and Taylor Berry adds 7.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg.

THE PILOTS
Portland (6-19, 2-12 WCC) is scoring 65.3 ppg as a team on 39.9-percent shooting from the field and 27.6-percent from beyond the arc.

Darian Slaga leads the team in scoring with 12.2 ppg. Julie Spencer is second in scoring with 11.6 ppg and leads with 7.1 rpg. Maddie Muhlheim has hit a team-high 37 3-pointers and Rachelle Owens' 3.8 apg lead the Pilots.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
