RENO, Nev. – Santa Clara women's basketball was undone by turnovers in a 52-41 defeat at Nevada on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams struggled to take care of the basketball but the Wolfpack (7-4) took advantage of the Broncos (4-6) mistakes, turning 24 turnovers into 31 points while Santa Clara scored just five points off 20 Nevada turnovers.

The Wolfpack also held a 33-11 advantage in bench points behind a game-high 13 from Camariah King and 10 from AJ Cephas.

With Santa Clara trying to stay within striking distance, Nevada all but put the game on ice with an 11-1 run at the end of the third quarter to take a 43-25 lead. T Moe converted an and-one during the stretch and Kristin Dearth capped it with four straight from the free throw line.

The Broncos got their offense going in the fourth quarter and used an 8-0 run over two minutes to get within 49-37 but it wasn't enough. Both Morgan McGwire and Kyla Martin knocked down two free throws with McGwire also adding a layup.

McGwire scored a team-high 10 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds. Taylor Berry and Dru Toleafoa also grabbed six boards apiece while scoring seven and five points respectively.

After Santa Clara got the deficit to three early in the second quarter, Nevada scored 11 of 13 to take a 25-13 lead. The Broncos stopped the run with four straight to end the opening half but couldn't get the deficit to under eight the rest of the way.

Nevada took the lead for good early in the first quarter when Cephas scored six points in a 9-0 run that gave the Wolfpack a 9-3 lead.

Santa Clara is now 12-12 all-time against Nevada.
Taylor Berry made her 83rd consecutive start.
