SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Carrying a 12-game winning streak in Leavey Center, Santa Clara men's basketball will continue a stretch of six in a row at home with a matchup against San Jose State on Wednesday.

Tipoff between the Broncos and Spartans is set for 7 p.m. in Leavey Center.

The Broncos(10-2), who are 10-0 at home this season, are coming off a 60-58 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday as Trey Wertz hit the game-winning basket with 4.6 seconds remaining and Josip Vrankic tallied a team-high 15 points.

The Spartans (3-8) also last played on Saturday, falling 78-58 at Stanford. San Jose State, which plays in the Mountain West Conference, is 1-3 on the road this season.

QUICK HITS...
• The Broncos are in the midst of a season-long six-game homestand, which includes the West Coast Conference opener on Jan. 4 against San Diego.
• Five players are averaging at least 8.0 points, including three in double digits led by Guglielmo Caruso (11.2), Trey Wertz (11.0 ppg) and DJ Mitchell (10.7). Josip Vrankic is averaging 9.8 ppg and Tahj Eaddy 8.5. Caruso is the top rebounder at 5.5 per game and Mitchell second at 5.2. Wertz and Vrankic are each averaging a team-high 3.6 assists pg.
• Santa Clara's 8-1 start was its best since opening a school-record 21-0 in 1968-69 on the way to a 27-2 mark and a trip to the NCAAs. The Broncos have won 10 of their first 12 games for just the second time in the last 31 years and fifth in the last 51 (11-2 in 2012-13; 11-2 in 1988-89; 12-2 in 1977-78; 10-2 in 1969-70).
• Santa Clara has won its last 12 home games overall, dating to last season. That streak is tied for the fifth longest in school history and ranks third all-time during the Toso Pavilion/Leavey Center era (since 1975-76).
• The Broncos have won 16 of their last 17 nonconference home games. The lone loss in that stretch was to Idaho State last season.

YEAR FOUR UNDER SENDEK...
The Broncos are heading into the their 113th year, including fourth under Herb Sendek, who has been successful in each of his three previous head-coaching stops. With a resume that includes 18 postseason appearances and three conference coach of the year awards, Sendek, was one of the three youngest coaches with 400 or more career victories. Having led the Broncos to winning records in two of his three seasons, he is in his 26th season as a collegiate head coach with stops at Arizona State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio).

THE SAN JOSE STATE SERIES...
The Broncos lead the all-time series 81-30 with victories in seven of the last nine matchups. The teams are meeting for the 25th consecutive season (since 1995-96) and in 37 of the last 38 years (since 1982-83). The 111 games played are the sixth highest total of any Santa Clara opponent and most against a nonconference foe.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES...
Guglielmo Caruso notched his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Cal (Dec. 7). That total is tied for third in the WCC this season. He posted first career double-double vs Cal Poly (Nov. 8) when he pulled down a then career-high 10 boards to go along with 15 points. The sophomore followed up with another double-double vs Washington State (Nov. 12) with a career-best 22 points and 10 rebounds.
• Coach Herb Sendek shook up the starting lineup the last two games with Keshawn Justice and Jalen Williams getting the nod over Tahj Eaddy and DJ Mitchell. Josip Vrankic, Guglielmo Caruso and Trey Wertz have started all 12 games.

HOME COOKING...
The Broncos are on an historic run at home as the team's current 12-game winning streak is tied for the fifth-longest in school history and is just two shy of matching the record in Toso Pavilion/Leavey Center.

At 10-0, Santa Clara also has a chance to match the record for consecutive home victories to start a season at 11. It was done twice and in back-to-back seasons, which established the school record of 22 straight home wins.
