SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Jaden Bediako, Josip Vrankic and Trey Wertz of Santa Clara men's basketball earned All-West Coast Conference accolades.
Vrankic, the team's leading scorer at 12.4 points per game, was voted to the second team, Wertz, who averages 12.4 ppg and shoots 49 percent from the floor, earned honorable mention recognition, and Bediako, who has averaged 8.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in his 15 starts, was an all-freshman choice.
The lone player on the roster who has suited up for the Broncos last three seasons, Vrankic leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 per game and is second in steals with 39.
Wertz, who has started in all 29 of his appearances, ranks sixth in the league in assists (4.0 pg).
Vrankic (ankle) and Wertz (concussion protocol) have missed the last two games due to injury.
The Broncos open play against Portland in the WCC Tournament, which starts Thursday in Las Vegas.
One of two freshmen in the starting lineup, Bediako is tied for ninth in the WCC in blocked shots (0.8 pg).
Filip Petrusev of Gonzaga was the league's player of the year and Jake Toolson of BYU was the top newcomer.
Santa Clara (19-12, 6-10) is seeded No. 7 in the tournament and faces 10th-seeded Portland at 8 p.m. in Orleans Arena. The winner meets No. 6 seed Pepperdine on Friday at the same time.
