Women's Basketball Off To Play Cal Poly Twice

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball will play games at Cal Poly on Monday and Tuesday.

Both games will tip off at 3 p.m. from Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo, California. Per San Luis Obispo County regulations, no spectators will be allowed inside the facility.

The Broncos opened their season with a 59-49 win at CSU Bakersfield on Friday night.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 11-4 all-time against Cal Poly with the first meeting coming in 1971-72. The last meeting was a 69-63 Bronco win in San Luis Obispo on Nov. 27, 2015.

THE BRONCOS
Lexie Pritchard led Santa Clara (1-0) in the season opener with a career high 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the floor. She also added three steals and two assists. Lindsey VanAllen scored 10 with a career high four steals and Ashlyn Herlihy scored nine with five boards and tied a career high with four steals.

As a team, the Broncos shot 47.9-percent from the field and collected 16 steals while forcing 24 turnovers.

Ashley Hiraki, Bryce Nixon, Danja Stafford, Shayley Harris, and Anna Johnson all made their Santa Clara debuts against the Roadrunners with it being the collegiate debuts of Hiraki and Johnson.

Hiraki got the start and scored five with Nixon scoring three and Stafford adding two off the bench.

THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly (1-1) lost its season-opener to then-No. 2 Stanford 108-40 on Nov. 25 in Palo Alto but bounced back with a 70-60 home win against New Mexico State on Thursday.

The Mustangs are shooting 34.1-percent from the field and 22.9-percent from downtown while scoring 55.0 points per game.

Sierra Campisano is leading the team in scoring (22.0 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 pg). Abbey Ellis has scored 13.0 ppg to go with a team best 2.5 assists per game and adds 3.5 rpg. Chantel Govan adds 7.0 ppg and Maddie Willett scores 6.0.
